"Players wanted to stop losses as they thought they could not cash in profits if they held contracts further. Prices are going down," said one broker.
The nearby December contract dropped to 11.38 baht per kg, from 11.40 baht, with 27 contracts traded, the same as on Thursday.
Prices were expected to drop further over the next week, in line with the physical market due to the absence of new overseas demand, brokers said.
On the physical front, Thai 5 percent white rice was at 10.80 baht per kg, down from Thursday's 10.90 baht. Overall futures volume dropped as 88 contracts of 5 percent white rice changed hands compared to Thursday's 116.
February contracts were the most active, with 58 contracts traded, although the price was unmoved at 11.36 baht per kg.
